Otto Junker Prize 2024: Award for Moritz Diewald

Moritz Die­wald was award­ed the pres­ti­gious Otto Jun­ker Pri­ze 2024 for his suc­cessful Master’s the­sis. This award is pre­sen­ted annu­al­ly to out­stan­ding gra­dua­tes of the Facul­ty of Elec­tri­cal Engi­nee­ring and Infor­ma­ti­on Tech­no­lo­gy and the Mate­ri­als Sci­ence and Engi­nee­ring Group in the Facul­ty of Geo­re­sour­ces and Mate­ri­als Engi­nee­ring at RWTH Aachen University.

The Otto Jun­ker Foun­da­ti­on, foun­ded in 1970 by Dr.-Ing. E.h. Otto Jun­ker, sup­ports young sci­en­tists and pro­mo­tes inno­va­ti­ve indi­vi­du­al pro­jects. Otto Jun­ker, hims­elf a gra­dua­te of RWTH, empha­si­zed his clo­se ties to the uni­ver­si­ty with the foun­da­ti­on. In addi­ti­on to our employee Moritz Die­wald, Dani­el Bag­gen, Ger­rit Ipers and Jan Kru­sen­baum were also honored.

Moritz Die­wald stu­di­ed mate­ri­als engi­nee­ring at RWTH Aachen Uni­ver­si­ty, spe­cia­li­zing in high-tem­pe­ra­tu­re tech­no­lo­gy. He com­ple­ted his master’s the­sis entit­led “Nume­ri­cal and expe­ri­men­tal inves­ti­ga­ti­ons into sub-stoi­chio­me­tric com­bus­ti­on as part of mul­ti-stage fla­me­l­ess oxi­da­ti­on” at the Insti­tu­te of Indus­tri­al Fur­nace Con­s­truc­tion and Heat Engi­nee­ring under the super­vi­si­on of Pro­fes­sor Her­bert Pfei­fer. Die­wald has been a rese­arch asso­cia­te at the IOB sin­ce May 2023.

The enti­re team at the Insti­tu­te of Indus­tri­al Fur­nace Con­s­truc­tion and Heat Engi­nee­ring con­gra­tu­la­tes Moritz Die­wald on this well-deser­ved award and wis­hes him con­tin­ued suc­cess in his sci­en­ti­fic work!
