Moritz Diewald was awarded the prestigious Otto Junker Prize 2024 for his successful Master’s thesis. This award is presented annually to outstanding graduates of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the Materials Science and Engineering Group in the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University.
The Otto Junker Foundation, founded in 1970 by Dr.-Ing. E.h. Otto Junker, supports young scientists and promotes innovative individual projects. Otto Junker, himself a graduate of RWTH, emphasized his close ties to the university with the foundation. In addition to our employee Moritz Diewald, Daniel Baggen, Gerrit Ipers and Jan Krusenbaum were also honored.
Moritz Diewald studied materials engineering at RWTH Aachen University, specializing in high-temperature technology. He completed his master’s thesis entitled “Numerical and experimental investigations into sub-stoichiometric combustion as part of multi-stage flameless oxidation” at the Institute of Industrial Furnace Construction and Heat Engineering under the supervision of Professor Herbert Pfeifer. Diewald has been a research associate at the IOB since May 2023.
The entire team at the Institute of Industrial Furnace Construction and Heat Engineering congratulates Moritz Diewald on this well-deserved award and wishes him continued success in his scientific work!
