From 24 to 25 June 2025, our colleagues Elsa Busson, Thomas Echterhof, Alex Garcia Vergara and Johannes Losacker took part in the General Assembly of the EU-funded large-scale project HyInHeat — Hydrogen Technologies for Decarbonization of Industrial Heating Processes — in Freiburg. The focus was on the technical progress of the project and the exchange of information on the individual work packages.
On Tuesday morning, the current progress of the work packages was presented, focusing on the development and adaptation of technologies in the field of hydrogen combustion and the challenges of the work packages.
Among these, two of the work packages address the design of safe H2 and O2 infrastructures and the development of Modern measurement and control technologies required for the safe and efficient use of hydrogen.
Progress in the areas of communication, project coordination and risk management were also presented.
After a lunch break, all participants had the opportunity to visit the production facility of EHS (Endress+Hauser SICK).The evening was rounded off with a meal together with a view over Freiburg, which invited participants to network and get to know the project partners better.
The second day focused on the presentation of demonstration projects for the use of hydrogen as a fuel in aluminum and steel production. An interactive exchange of experiences between the demonstrator partners also took place. In addition to organizational topics, upcoming meetings were also discussed.
We would like to thank EHS (Endress+Hauser SICK) for organizing the event and the interesting tour of the EHS production facility.
We are looking forward to the next general meeting!
