The IOB at the General Assembly of HyInHeat in Freiburg

From 24 to 25 June 2025, our col­le­agues Elsa Bus­son, Tho­mas Ech­ter­hof, Alex Gar­cia Ver­ga­ra and Johan­nes Losa­cker took part in the Gene­ral Assem­bly of the EU-fun­ded lar­ge-sca­le pro­ject HyIn­Heat — Hydro­gen Tech­no­lo­gies for Decar­bo­niza­ti­on of Indus­tri­al Hea­ting Pro­ces­ses — in Frei­burg. The focus was on the tech­ni­cal pro­gress of the pro­ject and the exch­an­ge of infor­ma­ti­on on the indi­vi­du­al work packages.

On Tues­day mor­ning, the cur­rent pro­gress of the work packa­ges was pre­sen­ted, focu­sing on the deve­lo­p­ment and adapt­a­ti­on of tech­no­lo­gies in the field of hydro­gen com­bus­ti­on and the chal­lenges of the work packages.

Among the­se, two of the work packa­ges address the design of safe H2 and O2 infra­struc­tures and the deve­lo­p­ment of Modern mea­su­re­ment and con­trol tech­no­lo­gies requi­red for the safe and effi­ci­ent use of hydrogen.

Pro­gress in the are­as of com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on, pro­ject coor­di­na­ti­on and risk manage­ment were also presented.

After a lunch break, all par­ti­ci­pan­ts had the oppor­tu­ni­ty to visit the pro­duc­tion faci­li­ty of EHS (Endress+Hauser SICK).The evening was roun­ded off with a meal tog­e­ther with a view over Frei­burg, which invi­ted par­ti­ci­pan­ts to net­work and get to know the pro­ject part­ners better.

The second day focu­sed on the pre­sen­ta­ti­on of demons­tra­ti­on pro­jects for the use of hydro­gen as a fuel in alu­mi­num and steel pro­duc­tion. An inter­ac­ti­ve exch­an­ge of expe­ri­en­ces bet­ween the demons­tra­tor part­ners also took place. In addi­ti­on to orga­niza­tio­nal topics, upco­ming mee­tings were also discussed.
